A Brief History
Belfast International Airport is 18 miles north west of Belfast. The Aldergrove complex, which includes Belfast International Airport, has been in existence since 1918 and was the Royal Flying Corps training centre during the WW1. Today the airport handles 4 million passengers and has 40,000 flights per year. It is also the most technologically advanced airport in Northern Ireland.
Traffic
Belfast International is the 11th busiest airport in the UK and it is the busiest airport in Northern Ireland. It has transatlantic flights, with scheduled flights to New York - Newark, Orlando, Toronto and Vancouver as well as flights to many European cities. There are also chartered flights to Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, the USA and many European destinations.
The Future
It is expected that over the next 10 years traffic at Belfast will almost double. There are therefore extensive plans to expand and improve the site
