Manchester - Best Airport Award 2008

Manchester Airport has been honoured by Airports Council International (ACI) Europe with the coveted Best Airport Award for 2008.

At the glittering ceremony in Paris, staged earlier in the week, the airport tasted success in the ten-to-25 million passenger category for Europe.

The judging panel was reportedly impressed by the "simple, innovative approach to attracting airlines" demonstrated at Manchester Airport.

Equally, the fact that the airport aims to be completely carbon neutral by 2015 proved impressive to the ACI judges.

A strong community relations programme and commitment to sponsor various arts events finally gave the green light for Manchester to take the award.
