The Spanish airline Iberia has had to cancel a third of its flights yesterday as pilots strike leaving thousands of passengers affected over the New Year in Spain.
However, Iberia claims to have found sufficient seats on other Iberia flights and with other airlines that will cover the 10,000 people affected.
The pilots are striking over fears of job cuts due to Iberia plans to move aircraft to its new budget airline. Flights Iberia’s franchise carrier Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, which flies from Glasgow and Manchester are not affected by the strike. If you have booked Manchester airport parking or Glasgow airport parking with Parking4less please contact us if you are affected by flight delays.
This is now the second walkout by Iberia staff over the holiday season. Pilots union SEPLA threatened to stage more strikes over the creation of Iberia Express. Existing staff fear job losses with the creation of Iberia Express, designed to compete with budget airlines.
