Fun Day at London City Airport

The eleventh fun day at London City Airport will take place on Saturday, July 7. Highlights will include a dramatic air show, with death-defying stunts and aerobatics.

Other attractions will include motorcyclists from the X-Treme Stunt Trial Display Team attempting huge 15-foot jumps up vertical walls, amazing drop-offs and a full range of freestyle tricks, which are only attempted by a handful of riders worldwide in 'Funky World'. Children will be able to visit 'Kids World' and 'Mini World', whilst older visitors can join the afternoon tea dance at 'Yesterday's World'.

The fun day will also feature singers at the final of the All Newham Karaoke competition in the 'Entertainment World' section and help judge the grand final. And 'Real World' reflects the world as it is today, and visitors can take part in popular sporting activities, or visit the Motor Show.

The event will raise money for the Richard House Children's Hospice, London City Airport's chosen charity. Richard House provides help for families and children suffering from terminal conditions. Last year the day raised £20,000.

New Q Park at Heathrow is open

The £11 million multi-storey development Q-Park London Heathrow officially opened yesterday. The car park was opened by the travel writer Simon Calder, who praised the car park reckoning it to be potentially the world's best. The customer-friendly car park struck a ground breaking deal with London Wildlife Trust to allow two hectares of former long stay car park space to be returned to nature.

The 2,000-space brand new multi-storey car park is located just five minutes from the Terminal 1, 2 and 3 road tunnel. This car park is suitable for all Heathrow terminals and has been designed and built with safety, security and customer service in mind. The Q-Park London Heathrow has been awarded the ParkMark for car park security.

Superintendent Hollis of Hounslow Police said that the use of automatic number plate recognition, CCTV and barriers would play an important role in helping police reduce car crime at Heathrow. The car park certainly has all the latest innovations in car park security, helping to ease the minds of holiday makers and business travellers who intend to leave their cars in safe hands for 8 or 15 days at a time.

M1 overnight closure to hit Luton Airport passengers

Demolition of redundant bridges on the M1 in the Hemel Hempstead area will close the motorway near Luton Airport for three consecutive Saturday nights starting next weekend. The work is part of the major widening between junctions 8 and 9 that has caused delays for passengers over the last 6 months and requires a complete closure of the motorway in both directions.

The demolition's will take place overnight on 9 June, 16 June and 23 June, with traffic management starting at 20:00 and a full motorway closure from 21:00. The motorway will remain closed for 12 hours, only reopening at 09:00 on Sunday morning.

There will be fully signed local diversion routes for northbound and southbound traffic. If you are travelling to Luton Airport from the north you should not be affected by the diversion route. If you are travelling to the airport from the south you will be diverted off the M1 at Junction 8 and back on at Junction 9, from where you will follow the airport signs.

You may want to consider an overnight stay before your journey to avoid any major problems. Check out availability at Parking4less.
